Let them live
Alongside the solo exhibition with Laurent Veldekens Arcade is pleased to present PAUL SIMON RICHARDS ‘QMC (STOP CACHE)’, 2019, both a live enactment of the rapid processing of information in the creation of digital images and the trailer for an exhibition which has passed.
Quasi-Monte Carlo (2013-present) is an ongoing series of works which draws links between the creation of images in our minds – which involves the rapid processing of random information – and the creation of digital images, relating human error to questions of probability and random access. At Arcade | Brussels in Spring 2020 Richards will present QMC (AT SEA) in which we will get to feel sad about 1980’s architecture which has been destroyed long before we found out about it, and in which Richards posits the counter-factual evidence that a malevolent dot pattern is to blame.
